2004 NFL Draft Special
2004 NFL Draft Special
By BDDC Staff.

The final week before the NFL draft seems to be where most of the action takes place. We did have New England taking a running back in round one but now that they have traded for Cory Dillon, we think they will try to trade up for Sean Taylor or continue to add to the offense. Of course, the most interesting things that happened in the final week were the court ruling on underclassman players and the situation surrounding the number one pick. So daddy Manning doesn't want son Eli to go to San Diego? Doesn't Eli know that some of the best beer brewed on the entire planet comes from the greater San Diego area? Big, malty, hoppy beers! Beers with character! We at Beerdude.com find it unfortunate that the Manning family doesn't seem to be able to appreciate a manly brew. For this reason, we are awarding Archie, Eli, and Peyton Manning the 2004 Draft Suck It Award. We threw Peyton in there because of the fat contract he just signed. The way we see it, no family raking in millions of dollars in NFL contracts should be whining about anything.

Enjoy the draft. If you are drinking beer, we hope it is a quality craft beer with character on not some fizzy yellow wannabe!

FINAL VERSION * UPDATED 4/22/04* VERSION 3.0 * VERSION 2.0* VERSION 1.0

PICKTEAMBEERDUDE.COM SAYS...
1
San Diego Chargers
ELI MANNING - QB - Mississippi
Although they have many offers and pressure to trade this pick, the Chargers stay at #1 and select Eli Manning. We can think of worse places to end up. Like Oakland.

2
Washington Redskins
ROBERT GALLERY - OL - Iowa
The Redskins are pushing hard to move up for Gallery and we think they will pull off the trade for number two.

3
Arizona Cardinals
LARRY FITZGERALD - WR - Pittsburgh
The Cardinals are nervous that a team will trade up and take Fitzgerald at the number two spot, but are glad when he is there at three. If Fitzgerald is gone, look for them to draft Sean Taylor.

4
New York Giants
BEN ROETHLISBERGER - QB - Miami(Oh)
The Giants want Manning but have to settle for Roethlisberger. We don't know how good of a berger he will be yet, but he won't be hamberger helper.

5
Oakland Raiders
ROY WILLIAMS - WR - Texas
The Raiders still move down, get Roy Williams, players, and picks.

6
Detroit Lions
KELLEN WINSLOW II - TE - Miami
There will be a great deal of trade interest in this pick if either Winslow or Taylor are still available. The Lions stay at six and select Winslow.

2
Cleveland Browns
SEAN TAYLOR - S - Miami
The Cleveland-Oakland trade doesn't happen and the dog biscuits end up taking Taylor. Not a bad consolation prize.

8
Atlanta Falcons
DEANGELO HALL - CB - Va Tech
The Falcons were hoping either Taylor or Winslow drops to them, but they settle for Hall.

9
Jacksonville Jaguars
REGGIE WILLIAMS - WR - Washington
The Jaguars need to get Leftwich more weapons. Reggie Williams is a good selection here.

10
Houston Texans
TOMMIE HARRIS - DT - Oklahoma
Houston could go with Vince Wilfork here but Harris seems to be the safer pick. Other options might include one of the remaining CBs like Gamble or Robinson.

11
Pittsburgh Steelers
PHILLIP RIVERS - QB - NC State
Some mocks have Pittsburgh selecting a CB here, but we think they will go QB and take Rivers.

12
New York Jets
CHRIS GAMBLE - CB - Ohio State
Still going with a CB at this pick. Gamble should be a good one.

13
Buffalo Bills
WILL SMITH - DE - Ohio State
Buffalo needs a DE and they have their choice of Smith or Udeze. They choose the more experienced player in Smith.

14
Chicago Bears
SHAWN ANDREWS - OL - Arkansas
Da Bears could go with a DT or DE here but we have to throw another OL in the top 15 somewhere and this is as good a place as any.

15
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
VINCE WILFORK - DT - Miami
The Bucs need some new beef in the middle. Wilfork fits the bill.

16
San Francisco 49ers
RASHAUN WOODS - WR - Oklahoma State
The 49ers need a replacement for TO. Not sure about this pick, but Woods is as likely as any at this point.

17
Denver Broncos
KEVIN JONES - RB - Va Tech
The Broncos could take Steven Jackson here too. We are pretty sure they traded up to get a RB but they do have a history of waiting until the later rounds.

18
New Orleans Saints
D.J. WILLIAMS - LB - Miami
The selection of Miami defensive players continues as Williams becomes the first LB selected.

19
Minnesota Vikings
KENECHE UDEZE - DE - USC
The Vikes need a DE and this guy can bring it. All we can say is we hope this guy knows how to freeze his ass off.

20
Miami Dolphins
VERNON CAREY - OL - Miami
The Fish need help on the O line and they won't let Carey get out of South Florida. They could also select a WR here.

21
New England Patriots
MICHAEL CLAYTON - WR - LSU
The Pats get a great WR in Michael Clayton. Clayton could prove to be a player that many teams will feel foolish for having passed up.

22
Dallas Cowboys
STEVEN JACKSON - RB - Oregon State
Dallas is estatic that Jackson is still available at #22.

23
Seattle Seahawks
IGOR OLSHANSKY - DT - Oregon
Seattle has a few options here but we chose Olshansky because we still think this guy sounds like he can put away some brew.

24
Cincinnati Bengals
DUNTA ROBINSON - CB - South Carolina
The Bengals trade down but still pick up a good player in Robinson.

25
Green Bay Packers
WILL POOLE - CB - USC
GB needs a DB so they go with Poole, who should immediately contribute to a shaky pass defense.

26
Saint Louis Rams
DERRICK STRAIT - CB - Oklahoma
The Rams need a CB and there are many good ones in this draft.

27
Tennessee Titans
JACOB ROGERS - OL - USC
The Titans need to get McNair more protection. Rogers is a guy who can shore up the perimeter.

28
Philadelphia Eagles
AHMAD CAROLL - QB - Arkansas
The Eagles need replacements in the defensive backfield.

29
Indianapolis Colts
RANDY STARKS - DT - Maryland
Indy could also go LB with this pick but Starks is too good to pass up.

30
Kansas City Chiefs
MARQUISE HILL - DE - LSU
KC wants a CB at this spot but many of the good ones are off the board. They take Hill instead.

31
Carolina Panthers
KEITH SMITH - CB - Georgia Tech
The Panthers fill some holes on the defensive side of the ball.

32
New England Patriots
CHRIS SNEE - OG - Boston College
If the Patriots don't use this pick to try and trade up for Sean Taylor, they may go for an offensive lineman here. Snee is hometown and he fills a need.
